Things to See and Do in Seymour Victoria

Seymour Victoria is a service centre for the nearby Puckapunyal army training grounds and the Puckapunyal Tank Museum. The town is also home to the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre. The Seymour Locomotive Museum is Victoria's leading rail heritage preservation centre where you can see historic carriages, steam and diesel locomotives. The Seymour Old Gaol is also a museum of note, and well worth a visit.

As a cultural destination, Seymour is well regarded. It is home to Central Victoria's premier Fine Art Gallery established in 1992. The C1872 multi roomed historic Old Post Office Seymour, is a restaurant and gallery. It holds regular major exhibitions of Australian internationally recognised artists, including painting, sculpture and jewellery. Exhibitions change periodically.

Experience the finest food and wine from one of Victoria's best kept secrets. Tastes of the Goulburn, celebrates many of Seymour's Goulburn River and Ranges wonderful attributes. This festival is a showcase of regional produce, gourmet foods, wines, music and entertainment. This exhibition and sale of local produce is held annually during October at the Railway station and its surrounds.

The region is blessed with some wonderful wineries. Chateau Tahbilk, Plunketts and Mitchelton Wineries are approximately a 15 minute drive from our property.

During the winter months, the snow fields of Lake Mountain and Mt Buller attract skiers to the town on their way to and from the mountains.

 

The Seymour district also has a close association with the horse racing industry. We are a short distance to prominent horse studs, Swettenham, Chatswood, Darley, Independent Stallions and Newlands. The Seymour Cup is held in October. It is a popular meeting for Christmas parties in private marquees or picnics on the beautiful lawn areas.Other points of interest include the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo held in February and the Seymour Show held early annually in October. There is also Go Kart Racing with great track facilities, Motocross racing and rowing at the Nagambie Rowing Centre on Lake Nagambie.
